COMPREHENSIVE CARE OF CLEFT LIP AND PALATE PATIENT- AN OVERVIEW
Cleft lip and palate are the most common birth deformity manifested due to deranged embryological fusions during intrauterine life. These deformities are associated with considerable physical, nutritional and psychosocial effects on the child and the family. Successful management is possible and is one of the success stories of modern medicine. However, success is dependent on well times and an interdisciplinary approach.
This requires that all health care workers involved with neonatal care, childcare, and dental care be aware of the treatment protocol to provide timely guidance and information.
This lecture aims to provide an update on the comprehensive management of cleft lip and palate for everyone involved in dental care and the care of newborns.
About the speaker: Dr Soumya Tripathi, Consultant – Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, Project Director: Smile Train, Meenakshi Hospital, Thanjavur, is an Oral and maxillofacial surgeon with special training and more than nine years of experience in treating cleft lip and palate patients.
