Academic performance framework – reimagined.
Publications have become an inseparable metric in judging academic performance, keeping the phrase “publish or perish” alive and relevant for nearly 100 years. There are, of course, numerous points of view on the subject.
However, there is a bigger question even for those against the use of publication as a measure of academic performance, and that is what would we replace it with? After all, measurement needs to be made for promotions and other benefits.
This week in thinking outside the box, we have a guest with considerable experience as an academician, researcher, and administrator in one of India’s best universities. Dr Raghu Radhakrishnan is passionate about developing a new and more balanced appraisal system and has dedicated much time to studying and creating an alternative plan.
Together we will discuss and analyse the practicality of adopting a new system.
