“RE-viewing evidence the systematic way”
What is the right way to look at literature? Is systematic review the only way to present high-quality evidence? Is the evidence-based approach only for people interested in research? Well, if you have these queries in your mind, come let us together clear these doubts and myths in our upcoming session on “Re-viewing evidence the systematic way” by Prof. Priyanka Kapoor on 15th June at 11.00AM Moderated by Dr. Sachin Sarode, with expert views from Dr.Gurkeerat Singh and hosted by Dr. Mandana Donoghue.

LIQUID BIOPSY has emerged as a novel non-invasive tool in detecting and monitoring cancer in several body fluids instead of tumor tissue. Circulating tumor cells (CTCs), circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), RNA (mRNA and microRNA), microvesicles, including exosomes and tumor “educated platelets,” were recently identified as a source of genomic information in cancer patients which could reflect all subclones present in primary and metastatic lesions allowing sequential monitoring of disease evolution and help in treatment planning.
Watch this video for an overview of #LiquidBiopsy, its effectiveness in overcoming the limitations of assessing a tumor’s molecular profile from a tissue biopsy. For example, as a single snapshot in time, tissue biopsy is subject to spatial selection bias owing to tumor heterogeneity, a shortcoming that is effectively overcome by liquid biopsy.

Dangerous Mucosa – A Walk Through 180 Years of Oral Precancers – by Professor Jerry E. Bouquot
The mouth has always been home to a number of rather common and surprisingly varied premalignancies and precancerous conditions. Yet, for more than a century the dental profession ignored them, refusing to accept the responsibility of detection and management. All that has changed dramatically half a century ago and this webinar offers a clinically relevant, historical perspective of that change from an Oral Pathologist who participated in, and contributed to, its evolution. He will review our current understanding of the biological behavior of oral precancers and the practical approaches available for early detection, risk assessment, and differential diagnosis. Objectives: Upon completion of this presentation, participants will understand the following:
• Be able to describe clinical features and management options for oral precancers
• Be able to describe prognostic features of oral precancers
• Be able to compare look-alike lesions with oral precancers

Art & Science of the Perfect Research Topic – by Dr Mandana Donoghue
THE PERFECT RESEARCH TOPIC identifies or explores something wholly new, expands existing knowledge, or takes current knowledge to a higher level of evidence. But the requirements of the perfect research topic do not end there. Instead, they include the overall feasibility and relevance of the study to be conducted based on the research topic. In this week’s livestream we examine the art and science of choosing the perfect research topic. This week I will be both the Presenter and the host. Please share this with students and young colleagues who will find it helpful. I will also love to have senior colleagues adding their insights.

Early detection of cancer is the single most effective means of achieving cure and extending survival. Community screening seemed like the answer but was replaced by the more effective screening of high-risk individuals. In oral cancer with well-established habit-related causation, it may seem a no-brainer that individuals with such habits need to be screened. Such a view, however, disregards a multitude of other factors that can play a deciding role.
We need ways that can present a holistic view of an individual’s risk of developing oral cancer. Watch this live stream to hear from Dr. Hemantha Amarsinghe all about the “Derivation, validation and use of the risk factor model for early detection of oral cancer.”
The webinar learning objectives include:
• An updated view of the global scenario and the risk factors for oral cancer
• How the risk factor model (RFM) was derived & validated
• The Use of RFM through PHC staff & social marketing campaign

Foam cells, hobnail cells, Koilocytes, Civatte bodies: The human mind loves descriptors, patterns, and pictures to help recognition and remembrance.
Pathologists are no different, and we have a range of fascinating adjectives to describe pathological changes.
Join us this week on #OralPathologyTuesdaysas Dr. Anita Spadigam takes us through the pathobiology of these common cellular changes. The what, why, and how of these changes, and of course, the origin of their intriguing names.
Must watch for Postgraduate students and anyone looking for a revision.
The learning objectives of this live stream are :
1. Recognition of altered cell morphology.
2. Mechanisms driving alterations in cell morphology.
3. Contextual interpretation of morphological alterations.
