SUMMARY:Management in the destruction and repair of academia
DESCRIPTION:Is the moral compass of academia in jeopardy? Renowned academic Hans Zoellner believes so. In an era where ethical stagnation looms large\, he posits that universities\, once beacons of enlightenment and critical thought\, now grapple with a crisis of their own making. Zoellner boldly claims that a rampant ‘psychopathic managerialism’ has usurped the noble pursuit of knowledge\, overshadowing traditional academic values. This shift\, he argues\, is not just an internal academic affair but a societal concern\, influencing future decision-makers at their very core. \n\n\n\nJoin us at Oral Pathology 360 for an enthralling session in our ‘Thinking outside the box’ series\, where Hans Zoellner will unravel these complex issues. Delve into his profound insights\, debate his proposals for reform\, and explore how the hallowed halls of learning can reclaim their revered status. This is more than just a discussion; it’s a call to rethink the fundamental ethos of our educational institutions. \n\n\n\n Click on the video to watch/ click on watch on YouTube to place a reminder \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTime converter at worldtimebuddy.comTime converter at worldtimebuddy.com\n\n\n\n\n\nHosted by:\n\n\n\nDr. Mandana Donoghue Founder- DirectorOral Pathology 360Dr. Mandana Donoghue | LinkedIn \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Speaker: \n\n\n\nProf Hans Zoellner\, BDS\, PhDVisiting Professorial Fellow\, Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering\, University of NSW\, EngineeringProfessor and Honorary Associate\, Biomedical Engineering\, University of SydneyDirector and Head of Strongarch Pty Ltd. \n\n\n\nProf Zoellner trained originally in dentistry and\, after some years of rural dental service\, completed a PhD exploring vascular changes in chronic periodontitis. He has worked in universities and research institutes across three continents: He had post-doctoral experience in the Department of Medicine at Royal Melbourne Hospital and as a Lise Meitner Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Physiology at the University of Vienna. Separately\, he spent one and a half years as a visiting researcher in Cell Biology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. His research spans experimental and oral pathology to aspects of public health and\, more recently\, dental robotics. \n\n\n\nHe rose from appointment as lecturer in Oral Pathology at the University of Sydney to holding a Personal Chair as a full Professor. He has trained as a junior registrar in anatomical pathology and oral pathology at the Institute for Clinical Pathology and Medical Research but is not a registered clinical oral pathologist. He serves as an examiner in Pathology for the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. \n\n\n\nFor ten years\, he was co-founder and Chairman of a think-tank and advocacy group for Oral Health (APOH). Concerned by changes in universities that he believes threaten academic quality and function\, he now collaborates with a network of colleagues advocating for improved academic governance. \n\n\n\nProf Zoellner is currently a freelance academic and Director of Strongarch Pty Ltd and also holds honorary appointments as a Professor at the NSW University Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering and at the School of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Sydney.
