He specializes in head & neck cancer\, oral mucosal diseases\, salivary gland\, and bone pathology. His current focus is on head & neck cancer diagnostics and epidemiology in (southern) Africa\, translational research in early oral cancer diagnosis\, and advancing Oral and maxillofacial Pathology in sub-Saharan Africa. He graduated in Dentistry from the University of Groningen in 1982\, completed his specialist training at the University of the Witwatersrand in 1986\, and became a full professor in 1997. He has trained specialists in Oral and Maxillofacial / Head and Neck Pathology for South Africa and other African countries and is involved in various professional societies and collaborative education initiatives in Oral Pathology between Africa\, India\, and Southeast Asia.  \n\n\n\nProfessor WM Tilakaratne is currently attached to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Clinical Sciences\, Faculty of Dentistry\, University of Malaya. He has held many academic and professional positions in the past three decades\, including a Professor of Oral Pathology at the Queen Mary University of London and a visiting Professor to universities around the globe; the former Dean of the Faculty of Dental Sciences at the University of Peradeniya Sri Lanka\, and the past president of the International Association of Oral Pathologists. He is a researcher of high repute and is listed in the best 2% of world Scientists by Stanford University. Any oral cancer and precancer review will include at least a few of his articles. He has published over 160 papers with an H-index of 41\, written two textbooks\, and contributed to many internationally recognized books. He is an Editor for the latest WHO classification on Head and neck tumors and the IARC handbook on Oral cancer. \n\n\n\nDr. Jeronimo Lazos DDS\, Cert. Perio\, Ph.D.\, is an Accredited Researcher. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Oral Medicine\, College of Dentistry – Universidad Nacional de Córdoba [Argentina]
