A/Prof. Dr. Jose Miguel Amenabar is a leading professor of Oral Medicine and Hospital Dentistry at the Federal University of Parana (UFPR), Brazil. With extensive expertise in oral medicine, gerontology, and periodontology, he has made significant contributions to research and education in oral health management for medically compromised patients. He earned his Doctor of Dental Science degree from Universidad Latina de Costa Rica in 2000 before pursuing specialized training in Brazil, where he completed an MSc in Biomedical Gerontology and a PhD in Oral Medicine.

A/Prof. Amenabar is widely recognized for his research on saliva biomarker analysis, oral potentially malignant disorders, and the dental management of patients with systemic conditions. With over 66 publications and contributions to four book chapters, he has been an invited speaker at national and international conferences. His leadership roles at UFPR have included serving as head of the stomatology department, postgraduate program coordinator, and dental school coordinator. He is an active member of the International Association of Dental Research, the Brazilian Society of Dental Research, and the Brazilian Society of Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology.
