About the Lecture:
Digital Pathology (DP) is reshaping the future of oral pathology by offering cutting-edge tools that enhance both education and consultation. By overcoming the limitations of traditional histopathological workflows, DP empowers oral pathologists with greater accuracy, collaboration, and accessibility in diagnostics and teaching.
The integration of Whole Slide Imaging (WSI), artificial intelligence (AI), and generative AI-powered analytics has created a transformative ecosystem. In education, digital platforms combine WSI with interactive modules, virtual microscopy, and case-based learning to foster deeper engagement and comprehension among students and trainees. These platforms support asynchronous learning and global case sharing—an essential feature for bridging educational gaps in underserved regions.
This session will introduce open-access digital platforms that merge AI and generative AI to deliver high-impact educational and diagnostic solutions. Features such as automated slide annotation, advanced pattern recognition, and virtual case simulations streamline the teaching process and elevate diagnostic precision. Furthermore, telepathology tools enable seamless global collaboration, allowing oral pathology experts to consult and contribute across borders.
Through real-world case studies, this presentation will demonstrate the tangible benefits of digital pathology in enhancing learning outcomes, improving diagnostic accuracy, and optimizing clinical efficiency. It will also address practical challenges such as infrastructure, cost, and regulatory considerations, essential for realizing the full potential of this technological shift and ensuring equitable access to advanced oral pathology resources.
