About the Lecture:

Accurate diagnosis is the cornerstone of effective treatment in oral and maxillofacial pathologies, and mastering biopsy techniques is essential to achieving this goal. Proficiency in biopsy procedures ensures precise tissue sampling, minimizes diagnostic errors, and significantly enhances patient outcomes.

This comprehensive session will explore the full spectrum of biopsy techniques utilized in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Attendees will gain detailed insights into the indications, procedural protocols, specimen handling, and best practices critical for reliable histopathological diagnosis. Key biopsy methods will be critically reviewed, including incisional, excisional, punch biopsy, fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC), and core needle biopsy, highlighting their specific applications, advantages, and potential limitations.

The session will also address important considerations influencing biopsy technique selection, such as lesion size, anatomical constraints, and lesion accessibility. Innovations like imaging-guided biopsies and minimally invasive techniques, which significantly enhance diagnostic precision and patient comfort, will be thoroughly discussed.

Moreover, this lecture will emphasize the crucial role of immunohistochemistry (IHC) when routine histopathology is inconclusive. IHC allows for precise identification of specific cellular markers, facilitating accurate diagnoses in cases of ambiguous or overlapping histological features.

Join us to elevate your diagnostic skills, refine your biopsy technique selection, and ensure optimal histopathological evaluation, ultimately guiding more precise and effective treatment planning.
