About the Lecture;
Saliva plays a vital role in the oral health. The dysregulation of the production and the presence of saliva can be acute or chronic and permanent or temporary. In each case, the consequences affect the status of the oral tissues, the oral microbiome, and the functions related to the oral cavity, such as mastication, swallowing, and speech. This presentation will analyze the causes, the diagnosis, the effects, and the management of the two manifestations of dysregulated saliva production and saliva sensation by the patient: Xerostomia and Ptyalism.
