His expertise in CBCT applications in implantology, TMJ disorders, and orofacial pain diagnosis has made him a sought-after authority in the field.
At IODCPC25, Dr. Nayak will deliver a Preconference session in the Oral Radiology Track titled “An Insight into CBCT Imaging of the TMJ.” His lecture will provide a comprehensive understanding of cone beam CT’s role in evaluating temporomandibular joint disorders, highlighting key imaging protocols, diagnostic insights, and clinical applications for improved patient management.

About the Lecture:

Despite its critical role in the maxillofacial region, the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) is frequently overlooked, resulting in inadequate diagnosis and management of its disorders (TMDs). Patients often experience chronic, unclear symptoms that lead to multiple, usually frustrating, consultations and repeated visits seeking relief.

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) has emerged as an essential diagnostic tool, significantly enhancing clinicians’ ability to assess the TMJ and associated structures. Through precise imaging, CBCT assists in accurately identifying anatomical variations and pathological changes, directly contributing to improved patient outcomes. Furthermore, CBCT scans enable practitioners to monitor therapeutic progress, providing visual evidence of treatment effectiveness.

Key Objectives:

  • Accurate Identification of TMJ Anatomy on CBCT scans.
  • Recognition of specific TMD-related changes through imaging.
  • Detailed introduction to the innovative CBCT-based grading system for TMJ and Cervical Spine Osteoarthritis, developed and copyrighted by the presenter.
  • Understanding the essentials of airway analysis using CBCT.

This dynamic pre-conference session utilizes clear visuals and real-world case studies to help attendees create lasting visual memories, facilitating future learning and deeper exploration into TMD management. Practical guidance on referral protocols for CBCT and insights into its diagnostic limitations will equip participants with actionable knowledge to enhance their clinical practice.

Join this interactive session, which will culminate in an enriching Q&A discussion to expand our collective expertise on effectively diagnosing and managing TMJ disorders.
