November 7, 2023 @ 17:30 18:30 IST

In this live stream we will delve into a critical issue that affects patient well-being on a global scale – diagnostic errors in the complex realm of head and neck diseases.
Did you know that the head and neck disease diagnosis have a discrepancy rate of 4.9%? Shockingly, 1.7% of these cases have moderate to noticeable impacts on patient care. But it doesn’t stop there. The World Health Organization’s 2016 report revealed that diagnostic errors in primary care contribute to 10% of patient deaths and 17% of adverse events in hospitals.
In this insightful lecture, we’ll explore the neurocognitive basis of these errors. We’ll uncover how cognitive biases, heuristics, and metacognition impact the interpretations and reasoning processes of pathologists, clinicians, and radiologists. And more importantly, we’ll discuss strategies to prevent, detect, and correct these errors.
By understanding the neurocognitive mechanisms behind these mistakes, we can enhance the quality and safety of diagnoses and ultimately improve patient care.
Stay tuned for an eye-opening exploration of the neurocognitive basis of diagnostic errors.”
