An Integrated Approach to Salivary Gland Tumor Diagnosis

Dr. Adam Fisch, M.D., Ph.D.
Massachusetts General Hospital • Harvard Medical School

June 23 @ 17:30 18:30 IST

Free

Salivary gland tumors are among the most diverse and diagnostically challenging groups of lesions encountered in pathology. While morphology remains the foundation of diagnosis, immunohistochemistry and molecular testing increasingly play an important role in confirming difficult cases and refining classification.
In this Oral Pathology Tuesdays session, Dr. Adam Fisch will present a practical, integrated approach to salivary gland tumor diagnosis, demonstrating how morphological patterns, immunohistochemical findings, and molecular alterations can be combined to support accurate and clinically meaningful diagnoses.

Why Attend?

✔ Develop a systematic approach to salivary gland tumor diagnosis

✔ Understand the role of immunohistochemistry in common and uncommon salivary neoplasms

✔ Learn when molecular testing is useful—and how it contributes to diagnosis

✔ Explore practical diagnostic frameworks applicable to everyday pathology practice

✔ Gain insights from a specialist in Head and Neck Pathology and Molecular Genetic Pathology

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Perform an initial morphology-based assessment of salivary gland tumors.
  • Recognize commonly used immunohistochemical markers and special stains used in salivary gland pathology.
  • Understand molecular alterations relevant to salivary gland tumor diagnosis and the laboratory methods used to detect them.
  • Integrate morphological, immunohistochemical, and molecular findings into a practical diagnostic framework.
